The highly revered Michelin Guide is renowned for its tireless efforts in recognizing and highlighting the epitome of international cuisine. In a pioneering move, Michelin Guide will now also recognize the best in the hotel industry with its new, prestigious award: the Michelin Keys.
In its inaugural award presentation, 189 distinguished establishments in France have been awarded these distinct Keys for achieving exceptional hospitality and unique hotel experiences.
In addition to expanding the Michelin Guide's reach, the Michelin Keys provide travelers with another trusted tool for evaluating their hotel choices. The Key system is reminiscent of the Michelin star ratings for restaurants – with Keys ranging from 1 to 3, and 3 Keys representing the highest level of hospitality and service.
Hotels bestowed with Keys offer unique stay experiences, have a definitive character, and provide a high level of service and hospitality. These awards are decided by Michelin inspectors during anonymous stays or visits, guaranteeing an unbiased review process focusing on the quality of the hotel experience.
In the inaugural list of awardees, 24 establishments have stood out, receiving the commendable three keys. Each of these establishments offers exceptional service and comfort, and are considered as destinations of note.
38 establishments received two keys, and 127 were awarded one Michelin Key. The complete list is ready for travelers keen to sample the ultimate in French hospitality.
Following France, Michelin Guide will announce the Michelin Keys for hotels in the United States (Atlanta, California, Chicago, Colorado, Florida, New York, Washington DC) on April 24. Spain will follow on April 29, Italy on May 7, and Tokyo on July 4, 2024. Other destinations are expected to follow throughout the year.
This move opens a new chapter for the Michelin Guide, promising to shine a light on the finest hotels world has to offer. As travelers, we can eagerly anticipate learning about the extraordinary establishments earning this prestigious honor in the coming months.
The Michelin Guide expands its expertise into the hospitality sector with the introduction of the Michelin Keys, awarding 24 exceptional hotels in France the highest honor of three keys for their unique hotel experiences and superior hospitality.
